<br>i never thought i would see a tribe dedicated to burchfield. pretty cool. i love his work. i actually have a reproduction of two of his paintings on my wall next to my computer. i love how he paints what i interpret as the reverberating energy that radiates off of plants amd trees. you can literally see the vibration of the landscape. so beautiful. i am an artist myself and he has been a strong inspiration for me.

Welcome to the tribe. Yeah, Burchfield is sort of obscure, and one wouldn't normally expect to see a Burchfield presence here... But, here we are!
I am a fan of Burchfield's work because I have always felt they very accurately capture the pathos and ethos of our shared home, Northeastern Ohio. Some may criticize part of his work as dreary and un-interesting, but if you have ever been to Northeastern Ohio, there is no question Burchfield painted and captured what the dreary, grey atmosphere he saw and experienced.
The paintings you refer to also offer show a feeling endemic to the Ohio region in the summertime, when temperatures reach 100 F, and humidity is extremely high. If you stand in the middle of a plot of vegetation, you can easily feel the moisture and heat radiating from it.
I also have tribes dedicated to Kathe Kollwitz and Odd Nerdrum if you are interested...
Oh, and where did you buy your Burchfield prints?

Yeah I was really surprised when I saw the tribe. I have a fewe things that I use as wallpaper at work sometimes. If you like him then you should look up a group of artists known as the Ashcan School. They early 2oth century realists. A little on the dark side. George Bellows was one of them. John Sloan was another good one.
